Jessie Dosanjh is a founding member of Universal Athletics Club and has been coaching since 2000. Jessie is a certified Level 3 coach in sprinting and hurdling and was the Team BC Sprints/Hurdles Coach in 2010, 2013, and 2018 at the Canadian National Championships. Jessie's specialty is conditioning, with emphasis on power and speed training. Jessie has produced many elite athletes, and continually inspires those around him. With more that 15 years of experience under his belt, Dave coaches some of our high school-aged athletes in sprints. He is a Level 1 coach, and was himself coached by several former Olympians in Jamaica while competing in distances from 100m through 3000m. Dave's goal is to pass on experience and knowledge to athletes who are willing to put in the work that is required to be successful, with an emphasis on personal best performances. Dave has also coached soccer, and has an interest in tennis, golf skiing and windsurfing. |
Shawn joined UAC in 2022 after a successful professional football career as a receiver with the BC Lions in the CFL where he earned a Grey Cup Championship. Shawn has trained athletes in the development of speed, power, and sports specific skills for a variety of sports including football, soccer, and track and field. He is an NCCP certified club coach and trained performance coach who understands the physical and mental demands of high performance sports, and believes in the pursuit of long term athlete development and enjoyment. |
Sabrina is a certified Level 2 Coach and Official, and works with our high school and university-aged jumpers. An athlete since she was 9, Sabrina is a sprinter and long jump specialist, with a personal best 6.32m. Sabrina was a multiple-time medalist during her high school and university years, and was named the 2014 Canadian Inter-University Sport Female Athlete of The Year. She is currently employed at BC Athletics, and coaches for Trinity Western University during their indoor season |
Garry joined UAC in 2019 and has been coaching mostly the endurance events for 9 years. He is a level 1 certified coach with NCCP and as a high school teacher, he has helped coach several school teams in track and field and in cross country. Some of his athletes have made it to the top of their events in BC and Canada. Raised in the Jamaican track culture, he competed in the middle distance events and understands the mentality and hardwork necessary to succeed. He believes that speed development is not only essential for the sprint events but also for the endurance events. His three big ideas are :(1) A mountain can only be climbed by taking one step at a time. (2) The trip up becomes easier if it is made enjoyable. (3) Everyone can go one step higher. He is currently working with the Junior Development program. |
Komi was a member of UAC when it was founded in the early 2000s and has since returned to the club as the Track Rascals and Junior Development coach with NCCP Level 1 certification. A UBC graduate, he is employed in the field of Chemical Engineering. Komi's goals as a coach are to focus on the development of fundamental track and field skills while creating a positive environment for long-term athlete development |
Jasmine joined UAC in 2010 and graduated from SFU on academic and athletic scholarships with Honours in Biomedical Physiology. Jasmine also recently completed a Master of Kinesiology from UBC, with a focus on performance sciences. A provincial silver medalist in the 800 and 400 meters, Jasmine is a NCCP level 1 coach. Her goals: develop basic run, jump, throw skills for the young athletes which will guide them towards reaching their personal best while having fun! |
