Jasneet Nijjar competed as a member of the BC Team at the Canada Summer Games this past week, with outstanding results.
First the 4x100 relay team had the fastest heat-time, and then won gold in the final. Jasneet ran a solid third leg, in conjunction with BC teammates Diana Voloshin, Katherine Lucas, and Valda Kabia to finish with a time of 45.73. Then yesterday, August 4, following a very fast time in the heats, Jasneet won the silver medal in the 200 metres, with a time of 23.83. Wowsers! On her Canada Games experience and winning two medals at the Canada Games, Jasneet said, "I'm pretty happy. It's been great. I was here as the youngest competitor in track. So, it's more about fun than actual results. But, I've got the experience and I am walking away with a smile now and two medals. It's like a cherry on the top. I am proud." Jasneet was also featured on a Team BC web page. Click Here. Congratulations to Jasneet for stellar performances, and for being such a good representative of British Columbia and Universal Athletics. We're all proud! |
